Story

It’s almost 10 years September that we lost our beautiful Boy Jayden Humphrey. He was born sleeping on the 11.09.09.

Everything was running smoothly up until our 20 weeks scan where it confirmed that our boy had Mosaic syndrome which is part of Edwards Syndrome also known as Trisomy 18. Chris and I are 1 in 10,000 couples to have a baby with this genetic disorder. There is nothing we could of done, and nothing we could do to prevent this happening to our son. After 3 long weeks of scans and procedures it was confirmed that our boy would be born sleeping. I remember feeling suffocated and numb. I just couldn’t breathe let alone tell people that our beautiful boy that we wanted so badly was going to be born sleeping.

On Friday the 11th of September at 2.26am, mine and Chris’s world crumbled. The day Jayden died was the day a piece of us went with him! He was born at 23 weeks and 5 days gestation.

The one thing Chris and I always say is ‘we so wish we had more TIME’. Jayden changed so much within the whole hour we had him, he just felt so cold. So Chris and I wrapped him together and handed him over to the midwife. Was the hardest thing in our lives that we ever had to do. Almost 10 years on and I literally have this guilt because I feel like I didn’t tell him everything I wanted too, I can’t remember whether I told him I loved him. I didn’t tell him how proud I was of him for being so strong, and for showing me the meaning of what love is. At the time we was in utter shock, and Jayden just changed so much within such a short space of time that we felt it was right to let him go.

10 years on and Chris and I have the family we have always dreamed of. We have Amelea who will be turning 9 September, Cody who is 7 and Caleb who is 1. Jayden is very much part of our lives. We all talk about him daily. And with us approaching his 10th Angel Anniversary we just feel we need to give something back, And do this for Jayden.

TIME is so so precious and for this reason we want other parents to have this. We are wanting to raise funds to help parents spend more time with their babies and to create special memories and keepsakes. It helps them try and come to terms with what’s happening, say precious things and gives them TIME to say goodbye.

On Sunday the 15th September 2019 myself, Chris our beautiful children Amelea, Cody, Caleb and 30 plus family and friends are participating in a 10 mile walk to mark Jayden’s 10th Angel Anniversary. Each and every single one of us are hoping to raise enough money to be able to send it over to Baby Beat at Royal Preston Hospital for them to purchase things like ‘Cuddle Cots’ and other resources to help grieving parents.

This is not only something that means so much to Chris and I, we also have in the group walking with us Kirsty Hardman who also lost her son Ashton 10 years ago this August, Gemma and Michael Rushe who lost their son Harry 11 years ago. Both babies were also born sleeping, and after speaking to them too TIME is something they wished they had more of.

With your support we could achieve this. I know our Son Jayden is always with us, and I know on September the 15th 2019 he will be spreading his wings and flying right beside us. Every penny counts and on behalf of my family, friends and loved ones we THANK YOU  in advance for every penny you have given to help us raise this money in memory of Jayden Humphrey. xxXxx
