Story

My son Ted (Aka Super Ted) spent many months in Birmingham Children's hospital whilst being treated and cared for due to being diagnosed at 7 months old with a very rare incurable heart condition, Pulmonary Vein Stenosis.

Our hearts were completely broken on 16th June 2018 when Ted sadly lost his fight and passed away at home in his mum's arms on my birthday.

Ted touched the hearts of everyone he met and was truly the most amazing little boy who we all miss so much.

The money I raise will be going to a very important piece of equipment that is used to keep a child totally still whilst performing a CT scan.

This means so so much to us because when Ted was diagnosed in January he had to have a CT scan to confirm the diagnosis and in Birmingham Children’s Hospital they ventilate babies to carry out a CT scan, it is very hard to see your child ventilated and it is also a lot to go through for a baby. Ted also had Chronic Lung Disease so this only caused more damage to his lungs.

Unfortunately half an hour after Ted was ventilated for the CT scan the CT scan was cancelled. Later that day we were then told that Ted could die any day. Ted remained ventilated for 6 days with us worrying that he may never wake up and we may never get another kiss and cuddle. This was such a worrying, frightening and stressful week all because he needed to be ventilated to be able to have a CT scan.

We have since been to Great Ormond Street Hospital where Ted had to have another CT scan. We were very worried when we were told Ted needed a CT scan as the last time was so scary, but this time it was a totally different experience. Ted was taken down without needing anything doing to him, he went down happy and playing.

When we investigated why they cant do the same in Birmingham Children’s Hospital we were told it was because they didn’t have the equipment or the policies to do it this way.

As part of Ted's Legacy we never want another baby or family to have to go through what we went through that week just for a CT scan. To do this we are raising money to buy the £5000 piece of equipment that is needed at Birmingham and we will be challenging the hospital to change the policy for carrying out CT scans.

Please help us in making such a massive difference and make a donation today.

Thank you for your support.
