Story

Dear All, thanks very much to all who sponsored me, i have now completed the run in a time of 1 hour 44minutes and 1 second, I am very pleased with this as i managed to beat my brother in law by 54 seconds. More importantly together we have raised £300 thanks very much for your suppor. Ive added some photo's of before and after, do you like the one after the race where i am pretending to look knackered. (never again).

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Reading half Marathon on 1st April, its no April Fool, I am really doing it and I am trying to complete the 13 miles in under 1 hour, 45 minutes - not bad for an old man.

I am fundraising in memory of my much missed Brother in Law Andy McSweeney. Andy and myself have fundraised for the British heart Foundation before when we completed the Southdown Challenge. A 100 mile off road bike ride across the entire Southdowns - from Winchester to Eastbourne (see photo's below). We managed to complete this challenge in 13 hours. I got 4 punctures, Andy didn't get any.

Unfortunately not long after this Andy was diagnosed with a rare form of heart cancer and passed away in St. Micheals Hospice in Basingstoke in September 2009; the very Hospice that each year he raised money for by riding the Basingstoke Big Wheel. Andy got me involved in 2006 and we completed the 50 mile ride each year. Andy wasn't content with just riding this distance we had to beat our best time each year.

I would like to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and St Micheals Hospice to help in the research of heart disease and also support all those that need the excellent service of St. Micheals hospice. I very much appreciate your support in sponsoring me and helping me raise this money. I know Andy will be laughing at me trying to beat my best times each year but I know he will also be cheering me on.
