<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11pt;">Thank you very much for visiting my fundraising page.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11pt;">In July this year I am attempting to complete the Lake Placid Ironman triathlon. This is not wise. It requires a 2.4 mile swim, then a 112 mile bike ride, and then a 26.2 mile marathon. If I make it (which is highly unlikely) it will take me about 17 hours.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11pt;">It is, of course, a completely stupid and pointless thing to do. So I’d like to mark the event by doing something eminently more sensible and raising some money The Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11pt;">The Jane Tomlinson Appeal is a wonderful charity. It helps children's and cancer charities across Yorkshire, the UK and the globe.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11pt;">For those of you who don’t know, Jane Tomlinson was a Yorkshire girl who, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2000, raised millions for charities by taking on impossible challenges – including, incredibly, (between bouts of chemotherapy), the Florida Ironman. I met Jane Tomlinson at the Leeds 10k in 2004 and I was truly inspired. Jane was given a CBE for her work, and the Helen Rollason award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11pt;">Tragically, Jane passed away in 2007. But her legacy lives on through her appeal, which continues to raise funds in her name.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: #1c1c1c; font-size: 11pt;">So please dig deep if you can and sponsor me online, on this website, today.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11pt;">Donating through the site is easy. It is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Jane Tomlinson Appeal will receive your money straight away and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11pt;">If it will make you feel any better when donating - I can assure you that the Ironman event will be very long, very gruelling and very very painful for me. So at least that should put a smile on your face as you are handing over the cash.

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black; font-size: 11pt;">Thank you very much for your support. It is hugely appreciated.
