Story
In July 2022 I, along with, Connor, Lewis and our wonderful friends, will be cycling the 246 miles from London to Ella's favourite city, Paris, on July 14th 2022 in memory of my incredible daughter Ella to raise funds for the Ella Dawson Foundation. I would be so very very grateful for your support.
The Ella Dawson Foundation was established in 2022 as a legacy to our amazing daughter, Ella, a truly inspirational human being, who sadly died in July 2021 after 2 years of unrelenting treatment for a rare and aggressive form of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
Ella just loved life and she was determined she would never be defined by cancer. .
Ella believed right from the start of her cancer journey that good psychological, physical, nutrional and wellbeing support could provide huge positive benefits through and beyond a cancer diagnosis. She knew that such support can help to combat treatment related side effects, help build resilience and retain a sense of empowerment when much is out of control.
Although the evidence base is now very strong that psychological and physical interventions can provide significant benefit through and beyond a cancer journey, such support is currently limited for young adults with cancer in the UK. So, Ella set about creating a wellbeing blueprint to help others in a similar situation to herself.
' I just want to show that all is not lost when you are a young adult with cancer. I want to put out there something that I was missing ' - Ella Dawson
Supported by a team of clinical professionals, we continue Ella's work through the Ella Dawson Foundation providing free access to a team of specialist oncology psychologists, cancer rehab exercise practioners, nutritionists and wellbeing specialists.
We are a small charity with a big heart and a huge ambition to make a difference to the lives of young adults with cancer and their families.
Thankyou for reading my story and we'd be so grateful for any support you can give.
