One Step Beyond....
Mark and Kevin are once again carbing up and tackling another ultra-marathon. This time it’s an 82 mile race (three and a bit back to back marathons) along the south west coast path which has to be completed in under 24 hours.
For any of you that know that stretch of coastal path from Charmouth to Studland via Lulworth Cove you will know it’s fairly brutal terrain with plenty of nice sharp hills, headlands, coastal steps etc to keep us on our toes. In total it has over 10,000 feet of ascent, which to put it in perspective is about two and a half times the height of Ben Nevis. As a result, despite the race being full of experienced and battle hardened ultra-runners it still has a finish rate of well under 50%. Starting at midday on Saturday 11th , even the quickest finishers will get to see the sun rise on Sunday morning before they get to stop running. Apparently it is the night section that will break you.
For a bit of added motivation we thought we would see if we could raise a few quid for our charity Football Action (www.footballaction.org.uk). Any money raised will be going direct to our new projects in Honduras and Kenya.
No pressure, we foolishly do these things for “fun” after all, but if you did have some cash weighing you down we’ll happily put it to a good cause.
