Story

Hello Everyone.

Well, that's the Edinburgh 10k done! So last months training totals of 25hrs 44mins of running, 195km covered, 21780 calories burned resulted in an official time of 52 minutes 10 seconds (Sub 55 was the target so pretty happy). I lost almost 8kg because of that torture and not bad for a non-runner.
I have to thank you all for the hugely generous donations that you have made to help the Cardiac Ward at Royal Infirmary Edinburgh.
Including the gift aid, you have all helped to raise a magnificent total of almost £900. Without this kind of support I don't think I could have have forced myself through the training and you all gave me a goal to work towards, of course now, none of my trousers fit properly.
I have to say that my Dad is really touched by your support, we know a lot you are also dealing with your own problems, its just amazing what friends and family can achieve.
Sub 50 next year? (No charities, just good odds for collapsing before the finish line)
Thanks again
Kevin

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you are probably aware my Dad (a.k.a Gerry, a.k.a Big Gez) has been through heart valve and double bypass surgery at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, it's a lot more serious than a port and polish on his old car engines, and, as he told me you have to make these repairs with the engine running.

He's almost back to normal (well as normal as he's ever been) and is now loving being able to lead an active live once again and is already walking, golfing and cycling.

The staff at RIE were phenomenal and a huge support to my Dad and Family (even if he is not very good at sitting about doing nothing) and I wanted to see if I can raise some money for the Cardiology ward as a thankyou.

The downside is that I've got to run the Edinburgh 10k on October 2nd! As much as I enjoy cycling , the gym and most sports, I'm not exactly built for running longer distances and at 95kg I've got a lot of bulk to haul round a course. I've never run a 10k before and the training started last week, 5 runs a week plus gym time until race day, I think I may find this tough. Thankfully I've got Stephanie to push me round.

As well as that, I'm as stubborn as my Dad and with your help I'll manage it.
