Baltic Sea Circle Rally · 22 February 2020
You have heard of the Three Gentlemen of Verona, well we are the three gentlemen of Yorkshire heading off for a rally into the arctic in February, covering 9 countries and 7500 km. The oldest is 74, Derek Thomas, having what he hopes is a mid-life crisis, with me, (his brother), Kevin coming in at 67 and a friend Steve Wright who is a mere 57. We begin in Hamburg in February. The rules say that our vehicle must be over 15 years so we have opted for a 2003 Honda CRV. Use of sat nav and motorways is not allowed! Our journey from Hamburg will go via Denmark, Sweden, up to Norway’s North Cape before heading back to Germany via Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. We are told to expect temperatures around the -20C (and possibly lower!) so it should be interesting.
Why Pie and Peas in the title? Well, we had to have a team name and that's it!
We are covering our own expenses so any and all donations will go straight to Prostate Cancer UK.
Prostate Cancer UK was selected as our chosen charity as it affects 1 in 8 men. The risk for over 50’s is higher and even higher for black men and men with family history of this disease. At a personal level, Steve's father died of prostate cancer and Derek had prostate cancer five years ago but has been clear since his operation.
