MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS AFFECT 1IN4
Kevin is undertaking this enormous challenge!! and many of his friends are supporting him( and some are betting money that he wont make it), but he needs you to make it worth while, and to help him reach his target of £10k. Kevin recently raised £6.5k at a Charity Ball he organised which forms part of his overall target...
The trek is a high altitude one through the Andes, with the highest point being 4800m(the height of Mt.Blanc)that follows an alternative Inca Trail to the legendary citadel of Machu Picchu. The trek takes you past snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes and isolated villages before ending at the Sun Gate and the first awe-inspiring view of the 'lost city' and all in 5 days.....
read what Kevin says about the motivation behind it....
"The inspiration for me to take on fund raising on behalf of Response started when I met the manager of the house where my brother Gerard had been living, and she told me of the work Response do for people like him who suffer with long term mental illness. I was so impressed with the caring nature and enthusiasm expressed by her. I also learnt that Response had been looking after my brother for quite a few years before he passed away, and for that reason I will always be grateful.
After the funeral I discussed with my wife, the possibilities of donating money to Response and also to hold a fundraising Ball and to take on a tough challenge ; The Machu Picchu Trek for which I am seeking sponsorship. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and the money raised will make a real difference to a great many lives. "
