We’re Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future. By 2050, we believe everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well. But we need to act now.

Story

Above is a picture of my amazing wife Gillian. We had just found out that she was diagnosed with breast cancer the weeks before this picture was taken earlier this year and decided to head to Iceland for a calm weekend away before she began her journey through the tough year ahead. We had the most amazing time and knew the journey was waiting for her on the other side of this trip which is why it was so special to us getting away together somewhere so magical.

I am truly lucky enough to have met her and somehow convinced her to not only marry me but have my children too (crazy I know). Anyone who personally knows us how much I love this woman and would move heaven and earth for her. I already think the absolute world of her and truly did marry my best friend and to this day we love nothing better but to spend time together. Since the beginning of 2026 this time has been taken up with medical appointment's and chemotherapy sessions getting her ready for her surgery which is booked for the end of July this year. I can without hesitation say that she is the strongest, most amazing woman I know and how she has battled through her chemotherapy sessions has been nothing short of truly impressive. I call her my "wee machine" as she has done nothing but leave me in awe of how she has not only dealt with the ups and downs but how her body has physically coped with the grueling sessions and the mental gymnastics that only a person battling......... no sorry, beating cancer can understand. She hasn't missed a beat through all of this being mum and wife and is always there for everyone as she normally does before this terrible news.

In light of all of the above I wanted to put myself through something I would normally never do (which is cardio lol) to support her in some kind of way and I'm hoping you can help me do this by donating to the Breast Cancer charity I have chosen for the Edinburgh Kiltwalk in September this year. The weekend this falls on is our anniversary weekend where we usually head off somewhere nice abroad to celebrate however this year with that not being a realistic option then what better way to celebrate how strong she is and put myself through something difficult to support the amazing charity that is close to our hearts.
