Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So this year will be the year I tick off one of my life goals in running the London Marathon by the age of 30! For this challenge I want to raise money for a charity and cause which is close to my heart.
I will be running for SRUK (Scleroderma Raynauds UK) as my eldest sister (Layla) suffers from both Scleroderma and Raynauds so I want to raise money for the charity which can be invested in helping others and put into further research to find a cure - as there currently isn't a cure, the condition can only really be suppressed.
Below is a brief explanation of both conditions but you can also find out more by visiting the Charity website www.sruk.co.uk
Scleroderma is a rare, chronic disease of the immune system, blood vessels and connective tissue. 2.5 million people worldwide havescleroderma, and in the UK there are 12,000 people diagnosed. It is an autoimmune condition, meaning the immune systembecomes overactive and attacks healthy tissue in the body
Raynaud's phenomenon is a common condition thought to affectup to ten million people in the UK. In people who have Raynaud's, the smallblood vessels in the extremities are over-sensitive to even the slightestchanges in temperature, the cold and sometimes stress. This causes a Raynaud'sattack where the fingers sometimes change colour, but not always, from white,to blue, to red
SRUK is the only charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by Scleroderma and Raynauds and I want to help make difference by raising not only money but awareness.
I hope you can support me on my journey and help raise money for this cause it would mean the world to me to have your support.
Thanks
Khalid
