Story
So in light of Sarah Harding's recent news, I thought it would be a good time to share my journey with Cancer. I have been sat her for a few weeks wondering whether I should share something so personal on social media, I was thinking that perhaps people would think differently of me and even treat me differently. But I'm no less of human for having to go through such life threatening illness, it didn't kill me and really it only made me stronger.
I was fortunate to catch it in early stages and although my GP didn't think anything of my lump, I was persistent and followed my gut and after the third visit they finally referred me. Shortly after on the 5th July I was diagnosed with stage 1 Cancer, which shortly turned into Stage 2 after finding a 2nd cancer and I am now clear two and half months later, with some ongoing treatment in place.
But this isn’t about me, this is an awareness post for everyone, especially youngsters in their 20s like myself, that Cancer is in fact real and you are not invincible. I thought I was completely invincible
I’m only 26 years old, and how could I possibly have a killer illness. But it’s around and I experienced it first-hand and it was the scariest time of my life! I was tested for all 4 cancer Genes and they all come back negative, I was just unlucky and in the 7% of woman who get cancer under 40.
I light of everything I have now decided to run the Bournemouth Half Marathon for my overcome journey and for more importantly Macmillian. I would really appreciate it if you can donate to
my page to support me in my fundraising and share my awareness to always check. Macmillian go above and beyond to help you through everything. The support they gave me when I was scared of the unknown was incredible. The lovely Abi Denison will be joining me on my run and we will be running as a team. Also accompying us is Samuel lowen off course, (although I know I won’t be able to keep up with him haha).
After my health scare I have spent the
last couple of months reading stupid amounts of information on Cancer and not to mention the book that really changed my perception on your body ‘How to starve Cancer’. I now strongly believe that what you put into your body causes illness and this is where ‘KIKI FOODS’ come in from my amazing boyfriend. Not only did he support me the whole time through this, whether I was crying, laughing or screaming he stood by me and even created a food brand that tastes good and has significant health benefits. There
are now extremely big plans for this food brand and high up people involved in the food industry and I am so proud of him, watch the space!
I also want to shout out to Scarlet Foster, who was an angel and helped me through everything, every step of the way. And all of my close friends and family that, I have the most amazing support system. And off course my Chewton Glen family.
Here’s a pic of me yesterday and me when I was in hospital for some positive vibes. Thank you for reading my story. And to conclude, a quote from my Dad in his last words - Stay Healthy and Live a long and healthy life.
