We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On 11th May 2019,
we will be staging ‘Kick Cancer Into Touch’ a Charity
Rugby Match in aid of the ‘Teenage Cancer Trust’. The event will be held in loving memory of our great friend and former teammate Colin Bower, who sadly passed away in 2015 having suffered with a rare form of lymphoma cancer.

The match will serve as the main event on a full day of fundraising, held at East Retford Rugby Union Football Club in Nottinghamshire. The game will see Colin’s former Colts teammates re-unite on what would be their tenth anniversary, to play against an invitational team of players from across the region.

Colin was a keen rugby player who represented his local team from childhood. His loss was felt by his teammates and the wider community where he was highly regarded for his warmth and kindness.

In addition to his sporting prowess, Colin was a highly
regarded personal trainer and touched the lives of many through his hard-work and enthusiasm within his role.

Tragically, Colin was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of lymphoma early in 2015. He spent the next 7 months confined to a hospital bed at a specialist centre undergoing experimental treatments and battling against horrific side effects. All the while he kept a pair of dumbbells hidden under his bed, and often snuck off the ward to attend a local University gym, always determined to return to his former life.

Colin faced down cancer with inspirational poise and bravery remaining unshakeable in his determination to survive right until his eventual passing.

The day will be an opportunity to honour Colin’s memory through the sport he loved, whilst raising as much money as possible to help other young men and women diagnosed with cancer.

Any donation or involvement you could provide would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.
