Story

** UPDATE 5**

The marathon finally took place! (Sunday 12th September '21)

Walking is going to be interesting for the next couple of days...!

Thanks for all your support. My official time was 3:33:05. Very happy with that!

** UPDATE 4**

It looks like the Brighton Marathon will be finally going ahead!

Little did I know that I would complete four half marathons, 1 virtual full marathon and three marathon training cycles before I get to run Brighton.

At least I should be well trained by now. (Hopefully!)

The event takes place on the 12th September. Thanks for all your support!

** UPDATE 3** 4th October 2020

My brother and I did a 'virtual Brighton Marathon' today. Unfortunately, the live event couldn't go ahead.

Mat & I jogged twice around the Greenway in Letchworth and did a total of 26.2 miles in a time of 4:06:32.

(Pics in the gallery on this page)

I've just registered for the 2021 Brighton Marathon. It's in September 2021, so hopefully, by then this Covid situation will be a little better.

** UPDATE 2**

Today (19th April 2020) was meant to be the big day. But covid-19 had other plans. So the Brighton Marathon has been postponed until at least September this year.

So I'm extending this donations page until September (or whenever the marathon actually takes place.)

It's all a bit frustrating - months of training to reach peak physical fitness - but the world has bigger fish to fry right now. And what's important right now is that we beat this virus. And then we can get back to running marathons!

During my training, I ran the Surry half (8th March 2020) and beat my Manchester time with an official time of 1:36:28.

I hope you are safe and well! Lots of love from me to you. xx

** UPDATE 2 **

The Manchester half went well! I completed it with my wife cheering me on in an official time of 1:41:15

** MY STORY **

Just as my beautiful wife and I were getting married in 2018, my sister in law - Sarah - was diagnosed with cancer.

We rarely come up against our fragileness in today's modern world. It's almost unimaginable until it hits you in the face like this.

It's common to hear 'she's so brave' used for so many different things nowadays. Words are pretty useless. 'Brave' doesn't come close.

Thankfully her battle has been won. But this is just our family's story. There are many other families with their own private stories.

And hope is only available because there is a massive amount of people tireless working on research and cures.

One day, the human race will beat this mutant. But until then there is work to do.

I am running the Manchester half marathon in October 2019, followed by the Brighton Marathon in April 2020, to raise money for this worthy cause.

If you can spare a few quids, please donate now.

Lots of love,
Ben
