Story
50 miles for 50K
We want to raise money for Kidlington Youth Programme and there were lots of different options we explored (walking the 10 tors in Dartmoor, a 50km walk across the Ridgeway, a 50km walk from London to Henley. So I asked a good friend Simon Cox to help to plan an event. Lots of people had said to Simon "just bring some reality to Mark's thinking". We met and it was Simon who said lets do 50 miles and so it was birthed!
We will be starting in Kidlington and walking the Green Belt Way around Oxford and Abingdon and finishing back in Kidlington. A group of us will do the 50 miles, others 30 miles and another group doing 17.5miles.
So why are we doing it?
At Kidlington Youth Programme we believe the Youth are the future, we want to leave a legacy behind of Young People that fulfill their potential and are all that they possibly can be. That they grow up to be men and woman that make a difference in society.
We are committed to providing a safe space in which young people can have fun, make friends, invest in existing and learn new skills. We are looking to develop the work we do and see greater need and increasing demand. We believe that one of the ways forward for the youth programme is to increase mentoring by putting a specific mentoring programme in place. For this we need additional funds for the resources for this to happen.
Please give generously to this cause!
(NB: In case you're wondering... JustGiving will pass money to Oxfordshire Community Churches general account, but I have set up a system to ensure that all such funds make their way to the Kidlington Youth Programme.)
