Story

We will be walking 11.5 miles, which is the equivalent to the height of Ben Nevis. This will take place on the 29th September around our local villages and countryside.

As current health and social students in our last year of sixth form, we have gained lots of knowledge about different types of organisations who help people with different needs, and what it is like to work or volunteer in and around these sectors. It has really highlighted how important individual charities such as QEF are to the community. The work that the Queen Elizabeth Foundation trust do is so crucial as it improves the quality of life for the people at the charity. The staff do this by helping to develop life skills such as learning how to drive a specially adapted car to suit an individual's needs! This helps empower the service users and promote their independence which can make them feel more involved with everyday life.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the charity have lost £500,000, which is a massive amount to an organisation who relies on the good will of the public to donate. So, during September, they have created the Reach the Peak Challenge to try and recuperate some of the money that has been lost. We cannot emphasise how thankful QEF and ourselves will be for any donations that you may want to provide, as it will have a massive impact of the lives of those within this charity.
