Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity bringing individuals, families and professionals together to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

Malcolm and Mark are climbing Kilimanjaro! They will start their ascent on 21st September and are aiming to reach the summit by 29th September.

Rising 19,340 feet above sea level, Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain inAfrica and the world’s highest free-standing mountain. Only 40-50% of climbers who climb up Kilimanjaro successfully reach the summit - one of us should make it! You can follow our progress on The Property Week website blog that we will be updating daily (signal permitting!)

All money raised will be split between African and UK based charities. The two charities we will be working towards are Muscular Dystrophy and Partners in Health (PIH).

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is the only charity focusing on all muscular dystrophies and allied disorders. It has pioneered the search for treatments and cures for over 45 years and provides practical, medical and emotional support to people affected by the conditions.

PIH is an International charity and the money will be going to the Neno district in Malawi where there is a high rate of HIV.  The first component of the care is to support the orphans created by AIDS.  PIH Charity provide these orphans with education and housing where appropriate, and then continue to look after them into their young adulthood, providing training programmes and workshops in order to help these young people develop their skills in a supportive environment. There is a considerable amount of information on the PIH website which everyone is welcome to look at (www.pih.org).

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us. The charities will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
