Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

CHAS is a charity with a mission. We're going to make sure that wherever there's a child in Scotland with a life shortening condition, we're on hand to support the entire family. To do that, we need to double our fundraising income and by supporting this fundraising, you're helping us do it.

Each week three children die in Scotland from an incurable condition. Right now CHAS can only reach one of those families to provide the care they deserve, but we are determined to reach them all and its thanks to you that will help us achieve our mission.

Caitlyn, Kay and Susan are all proud members of staff at Robin House and have signed up for the Kilimanjaro Trek, 16th-26th September 2021 as they all have a shared goal to 'Keep the Joy Alive' and to reach all families to provide the care that they deserve.

Kilimanjaro is the highest single free-standing mountain in the world at 5,895m. the trek will take place over 7 days and will cover a distance of 66km. This is the ultimate challenge which will show commitment, determination and a shared pride to represent CHAS.

Our target is £15,000 to help families just like this:

Here is a message from a family that used CHAS Palliative Care Team and Robin House:

"We had the pleasure of being one of the first families to work with this team whilst our child was in PCU. Comparing this visit to last years was such a different experience thanks to this team. The team went above and beyond to take care of our child's palliative needs physically and emotionally as well as mine and the kids. Doctor Jonathan instantly made us feel welcome and listened to any concern I had as a mother to a palliative child. The team completely followed my lead which was lovely compared to doctors who can sometimes think they know better than parents who know the child inside out. Thanks to the team I was able to spend my child's last night on earth with her overnight in PICU. The staff made sure I had a bed in the room. I got to fall asleep beside her for her last bedtime and wake up next to her on her last morning. Thanks to the team the kids got to spend a few hours with their sibling as we celebrated Christmas Eve early. And lastly thanks to the team we were able to get her to the hospice where she spent her last hours with her family around her, exactly as we had always wanted. What an absolute godsend they were to us and they will be to future families who sadly need to follow the same path as we did. Forever grateful for the team and Robin House staff xx"

Thank You
