‘Actions Speak Louder Than Words’
Hi I’m Andy (the tall guy on the right),
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. I’d appreciate it if you could take a few moments to read on just a little further so I can briefly outline my aim…
In July 2015 my friend (Jordan, the short guy on the left) and I will embark on a self-funded journey to Tanzania where we will face the epic challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. This colossal mountain stands at 5,895 metres (just short of 4 vertical miles), making it the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest free standing mountain in the world!
My friend
and I are just two very ordinary individuals, studying degrees and working
part-time jobs to get us through university. Our hope however is to achieve
something altogether rather extraordinary and reach the summit of Kilimanjaro, but most
importantly we want accomplish this for a deserving cause... Together we have decided
to raise money for Macmillan, a charity that provides cancer support, as well
as friendly help and advice for victims, families, carers and friends.
To ensure that every penny you guys donate goes straight to Macmillan we have decided to pay 100% of the expedition costs ourselves. By self-funding the trip ALL of the money you help us to raise (+25% Gift Aid) goes straight towards making the lives of cancer victims that little bit better.
Our joint target is £2015 (or £1007.50 each) which we hope to reach by August 2015. We understand that not everyone can afford to be overly generous when donating, so know this, whether you give £1 or £100 we are thankful for your contribution – it all counts towards the bigger picture at the end of the day!
Actions do indeed speak louder than words, which is why we have chosen to do something others might consider to be a bit stupid and slightly dangerous. So if you don’t have the urge to shave your head, if you aren't compelled to scale a mountain, or if you just don’t feel like throwing yourself out of a plane today, then your action can be something as simple as donating towards our cause – it’s just as noble (and a lot safer too).
Be happy knowing that you made a difference to someone else’s life today. Post our page details on your Facebook or Twitter to help us beat our target.
Thank You =)
