Ending homelessness in Scotland...one person at a time. Every year, thanks to people like you, we support over 7,000 people in Scotland. We work with families, young people, rough sleepers and people recovering from addiction. The need for our services is growing and your support is vital.

Story

All,

Given the current social distancing measures in place and the uncertainty around social gatherings over the course of the next few months, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the charity golf event which was to be held at Gleneagles in early September. This is disappointing as it would have been a great event to raise funds for Bethany Trust. We will however, be rescheduling the event in 2021 when life (hopefully) moves a little closer to normality. We will reach out with details in the near future.

Whilst we are disappointed not be getting out for a game of golf, the real loser of course is Bethany Trust whom this event was for. Kiltearn will make a donation to Bethany Trust for all 72 players to ensure they receive the funds they need, possibly at the time they need it most.

If you would still like to make a donation, this can be done here at the JustGiving page.

Thank you for your interest, stay safe and we’ll see you next year at Gleneagles!

................................................................

All,

It is back! Firstly a massive thank you to all of you who supported our 2019 Kiltearn charity golf day. It was a real success. It helped contribute to the £50,000+ we have raised during 2019 for Bethany Trust. This makes a massive difference to all the individuals and projects that they support.

Our 2020 charity golf day for Bethany will be held on Monday 7th September 2020 and we would love to provide you with a quick overview.

We are moving away from the traditional Scottish links course this year, instead choosing to hold the event at Gleneagles, one of the world’s most iconic sporting estates. A golfer’s paradise for a century, its hallowed fairways have been graced by the good, the great and legends of the game.

Today, Gleneagles is entering a new era, bolstered by a multi-million pound investment project, The Host Venue of The 2014 Ryder Cup and 2019 Solheim Cup is reaffirming its position as one of the world’s foremost golf destinations.

With three world-class championship golf-courses – The King’s, The Queen’s and The PGA Centenary Course, we were spoilt for choice! Kiltearn’s 2020 Charity Golf Day will be held on the PGA Centenary Course – The Host Venue for The 2014 Ryder Cup and The 2019 Solheim Cup. Gleneagles became the first European course to stage both. The course was created by Jack Nicklaus – his first and only design project in Scotland.

However, Gleneagles’ finest asset is its location. Jack Nicklaus described it as “the finest parcel of land in the world he has ever been given to work with”. While the beautiful Perthshire scenery may not be front-of-mind for the teams during the charity golf day, it would be remiss not to spare a few moments to feast on the spectacular countryside views the golf course affords. Lush panorama views of the rich Perthshire straths and as you move westwards over the next few holes, the rugged Grampians come into view on the right, then distantly purple ahead, Ben Vorlich and the mountains above the Trossachs. Gleneagles is located in the heart of Scotland, just one hour from both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports.

We will be running a ‘shotgun’ tournament, i.e. 18 ‘teams’ of 4 players tee off simultaneously from different holes, using a Texas scramble format. As such, the event is capped at 72 players. There will be longest drive & nearest the pin competitions, the options of purchasing mulligans etc.. as well as a silent auction and plenty of prizes for the competitive amongst us. The goal of course is to raise funds for Bethany Trust and to have a good time regardless of the quality of golf on display!

Of course, if you don’t have a ‘team of 4’, we can match individuals or pairs. We would look for individuals to contribute £150 or £600 for a ‘team of 4 players’.

The tee off will be at 8:30am, and we’ll look to have lunch afterwards in The Dormy Clubhouse.

By Kiltearn inviting yourselves (along with other key service providers) to attend and fundraise, we hope to support Bethany Trust to make a real difference to those who need it most and get to know each other a bit better by participating in this event.

If you or individuals within your firm are interested, please let us know at charity@kiltearnpartners.com at your earliest convenience.

I would be remiss if we didn’t include some information on our chosen partner charity, Bethany Trust.

As a result of our direct fundraising last year, Bethany Trust was able to purchase a new care van for use in Edinburgh, re-purpose & re-fit the old care van so it can be used to launch the service in Glasgow as well as fund community support services in both Edinburgh & Glasgow. For those who don’t know, the care van travels out on its two routes through Edinburgh an amazing 571 times a year, providing over 27,000 meals annually to the homeless and those in need. Kiltearn staff have been fortunate enough to help out from time to time on the care van route. Without exception, everyone has found it be a humbling and moving experience. In 2019, there wasn’t one single goal (such as there was in 2018 with the Care Van); however, there are many worthwhile projects which we can help pioneer and launch, that may be years away without our help and donations. These include dedicated care shelters & residential recovery projects as well as providing ongoing support for the care van and the broader work of Bethany Trust.
