Many of you will already know my story and how I came to know about this inspiring organisation. For those who don't, here it is in nutshell form.

From my early teenage years, I was in foster care in Birmingham. Although, in many ways, I was extremely fortunate (I had my incredible Grandmother as well as a very special English teacher who never gave up on me) it's fair to say that in general, foster care was a lonely, isolating and surreal experience. 

I was first introduced to the fund in 2009. I was studying Drama and English at Manchester Metropolitan University. With the summer break approaching and the inevitable anxiety that that occurs withany care leaver at University (not having a place to go during the holidays), I  looked into working abroad. The fund assisted me with travel expenses to Canada and back where I worked on a Summer camp with individuals with extreme special needs.  This experience undoubtedly changed me. I realized that not only had I found a field where I could flourish but that I had an inner strength that I had never realized before.

In 2012, I received a full scholarship from EBSF in order to do my MA Classical Theater at Kingston University. Even writing that sentence now, six years on, is incredibly emotional. I think I speak for many that have experienced Foster care when I say how overwhelming it is to feel that someone has unrelenting faith in your ability. That is what this amazing charity does; they have faith in young people. 

I want to raise money so that more young people, perhaps not as fortunate as me, can reach their potential and feel how it feels to be believed in.
