Stop the torture of dogs at the Yulin Festival · 14 July 2016

Across Asia, an estimated 30 million dogs a year are killed and eaten. HSI’s work places a global spotlight on their suffering, and aims to end the trade for good.

Story

Maddy, Freja and I will be walking the 10-mile Sandstone Trail from Cheshire to Shropshire on 20th July, to help raise funds to shut down the dog meat trade at Yulin in China.

Humane Society International uses funds to rescue dogs and cats all year round from a terrible fate - being tortured horrifically (strung up and blowtorched, boiled alive, strangled, anally electrocuted, nailgunned to walls, dismembered, beaten, hacked at with machetes - all while still alive) before ending up on a dinner plate - in the misguided belief that the more the animal suffers the more tender the meat will be. HSI negotiate the release of the frightened animals, who are held in terrible conditions in slaughter houses in Yulin. The rescued animals find loving homes in China or are flown to the U.K. and U.S. to find loving families there.
