CARE International UK - Walk In Her Shoes · 31 March 2012 ·
My pedometer is making 10000 steps a day quite a challenge. I've tested it three times today (Wednesday). On the first test I counted 100 steps for myself - the pedometer registered 33. On the second test I counted 75 steps - the pedometer registered 40. And then, most depressingly, I counted 280 steps - the pedometer registered a paltry 63. So in order to get the pedometer to actually read 10000 steps at the end of the day I probably have to walk at least 10 miles instead of the 5 that I anticipated.
I'm aiming for three good walks a day - part of my commute to work, a long walk at lunch time and walking back from main campus to Nottingham on the way home. Today I discovered a new route from my work that gave me a good chance to take in some of the lovely scenery. On Monday I was walking down a road in Nottingham that I've walked down quite a few times before. I was amazed to realise how many things I'd never previously noticed. There was a catholic church that I never knew existed and a college that I'd also never seen before. So I'm enjoying seeing the world with fresh eyes, and it feels great to know that I'm raising money for such a good cause.
