Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I was diagnosed with nystagmus when I was 3. Nobody in my family had heard of it although 1in 1000 have this condition .after many tests   I was diagnosed with ideopathic nystagmus (no known cause ) -ie wobbly eyes.

This condition affects my eyesight and can  affect balance, depth perception .my vision alters at different times in the day  and is affected when I’m ill tired or upset .I sometimes struggle with recognising people .it is more difficult for me to do many things including schoolwork and  sport  but I always try my best .

I am a determined boy and Mum and dad have always told me I can do anything I want -I might just need to change the way I do it .they have had support from the nystagmus network  who provide support to people and families with nystagmus and also fund research into the cause and hopefully a cure  and as I’m getting older  I am starting to realise although things are sometimes difficult I don’t need to be embarrassed about my nystagmus ..

June 20th  is nystagmus awareness  day and I am running the 2.5 k fun run on 14th June with some of my friends  to raise awareness and funds for nystagmus network .

I am aiming to raise £100  and would be really grateful if you could sponsor me

Thank you

Jac
