Story
About 5 years ago, my dad passed away after a short but brave battle to oesophageal cancer. To say he was a magnificent man is barely even touching the sides. He was the strongest, kindest and most loving man you could meet. If you knew me then you’d know how much of a daddy’s girl I was and how much this blew my universe up into tiny pieces.
To say I was basically ‘lost at sea’ without my life raft and a solid anchor to keep me secure was an understatement. With the support of my partner Bill, my family and a new found love of fitness, movement and training I began to piece myself back together again.
I was thinking of a way to fund raise for a cancer charity but things got in the way. I kept thinking ‘next year’ ‘when I’m fitter’. But years came and went and then covid hit. My plans were halted.
Fast forward to 2022 and I felt like I was getting ready to start looking again. After a pretty catastrophic calf tear that left me in a boot for 5 months and unable to train to my full potential, I shelved my fund raising ideas.
It’s a been a full year since my injury first happened and a little advert popped up on Instagram. Good old adverts. Taking this as a nod from above, I signed up with my dear friend, Em and we are climbing Snowdon through the night in September. No more putting it off. No more ‘next year’.
Life is short, you never know how long you’ve got and I want to fill my time with doing. Not sitting and wishing and thinking.
So please, help me raise money for MacMillan. A charity that does so many amazing things for those with cancer. I know times are tough for everyone at the moment but every little bit will count towards me hitting my goal.
I promise to work hard, train hard and get to the top of the mountain in good time and make it down in one piece- no crutches.
Let’s go!
