Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am thrilled (and terrified!) to be taking part in this trek, organised by The M2M Group. The M2M Group is an events company formed by a collection of retired sportsman, each undergoing their own transition into life after professional sport. Brought together by friend and teammate, Ed Jackson, who suffered a spinal injury in an accident that left him paralysed from the neck down, the group set about on their own journey to fundraise for causes close to Ed's and the rest of the team's hearts.

Currently, the mortality rate for individuals with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) in Nepal is high. This is due to a lack of resources, government funding and limited access to specialist rehabilitation centres. The only current Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation centre is in Kathmandu and cannot meet the demand of all those with an SCI in Nepal. The goal of this trek is to raise 250,000 to build a second spinal cord injury centre in Chitwan, Nepal, to help individuals with SCI survive post injury and learn the essential skills to live and thrive.

Having worked in SCI rehabilitation since 2008 I am passionate about improving rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury. I have worked with Ed since his SCI in 2017 and am delighted to be joining him and the M2M team on this trek.
