Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2012 I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, following a long period of illness and a substantial amount of investigations. Since, I have had a number of treatments to manage the disease and have been in remission once. However, after approximately two years of remission, the disease returned with a vengeance and after even more investigations, health professionals confirmed it is now chronic.
Luckily, I'm receiving treatment every eight weeks, which involves going into hospital for intravenous drugs and the condition is the best it's been in two years however, some are not as fortunate. There are those who are so ill, the only option is to have bowel removed and a stoma bag inserted but even then, there's no guarantee the disease won't return.
Crohn's affects mouth to anus and anywhere in between. It causes severe ulcers, which become increasingly painful, chronic diarrhoea, severe bloating, chronic fatigue, arthritis, joint pain and many other symptoms. Removing a diseased section can often result in it jumping to another area in the body. Living with it is hard and to date there is no cure.
I'm doing this for everyone diagnosed with this awful disease, for those who aren't as fortunate as me, to those rocking the stoma's and to help with research funding in the hope a cure will be found.
