Story
Not one to shy away from a challenge, I am reaching out to anyone and everyone to help support Action Medical Research whilst I participate in Ziggurat, the construction and building materials industry annual charity bike ride.
As a last minute recruit to the Brett team, the reality of this challenge hit when I started training for this ride on 22nd August 2022...I have until 14th September to get match fit! We will be cycling over 300 miles from London to Reims with over 11,000ft of climbing, but come rain or shine we shall be pedalling every single mile and climbing every hill (no walking for me!).
Yes, I know what you're thinking, why sponsor me to do something I really enjoy, is it really a challenge? The answer is a resounding YES! I have ridden more miles in the last 8 days than I have in the last 6 weeks. With only 2 rides over 50 miles under my belt this whole year, the four 70-90 mile days are making me feel a bit queasy right now.
Ultimately the real reason I'm putting myself through this is to raise funds for Action Medical Research. The majority of us, without even realising it, have benefitted from the great work they have achieved. With many successes over the past 70 years including research into the polio vaccine, developing ultrasound technology and testing of the rubella vaccine, the charity now focuses on the prevention of still births, premature birth and the health of babies, children and young people. Join their continued fight for little lives.
