Story
62 miles for Dad ❤️
On 31st May 2026, my life changed forever when my dad, aged just 62, suddenly died from a brain haemorrhage.
A few years before, Dad had suffered a stroke. He survived it, but it left a lasting impact on him and on our family. He also had some weakness in one of his legs, which made walking more difficult for him than it was before.
So when I was scrolling through Facebook recently and an advert appeared for the Stroke Association’s 62 Miles in October challenge, it immediately caught my attention.
My dad was 62.
He had already suffered a stroke.
And he died from a brain haemorrhage.
Seeing that challenge felt like more than just a coincidence. It felt like a little sign from Dad, and I knew I wanted to do it.
So throughout October, I’m going to walk 62 miles to raise money for the Stroke Association, in memory of my amazing Dad.
I’ve never taken on a fundraising challenge like this before, but I want to do something positive in Dad’s memory and raise money for a cause that has become incredibly personal to me.
Dad's first stroke showed us just how much a stroke can change someone's life.
Losing him this year has shown me how devastating it can be for the person affected and for everyone who loves them.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help the Stroke Association support people affected by stroke and fund vital research and awareness.
And every mile I walk will be for my Dad. ❤️
62 miles for 62 years.
For Dad. Always.
