I am running the Edinburgh Marathon on 26th May, 2019 in memory of my mother who was diagnosed with Early On-Set Alzheimer's Disease and sadly passed away in 2016.  During her illness, and since her passing, I have witnessed the lasting effects it has had on the loved ones who cared for her.  The Guernsey Alzheimer's Association supports carers and ex-carers of loved ones living with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia.  They offer social support, practical information, counselling and a service called "Sitter Service", where a trained sitter relieves the carer at home for 2-3 hours for much needed free time. 

I would appreciate any donation for this great cause, and whilst nothing can ever prepare you for the devastating reality of having to say good-bye to someone twice, at least there is a way to provide support to those who live through it.
