Story
The 31st of May will be my dad's first death anniversary and my MUM, AUNT BELINDA, cousins ANABEL and ELLA and I have decided that instead of letting it swallow us up whole, there is no better way to spend it than by making sure we're helping someone else fight the big C before it takes them too. JOHANNA, AMRITA and RHEA, friends of mine, have decided to support this and are going to take the plunge too by running! While cancer is unpredictable, so are the costs. Some people are not lucky enough to even begin treatment and its a horrible notion that someone cannot save your life unless you have the funds. This is why WE will run. While it's only the beginning, we feel whatever the amount of money we collect, it is a little bit more added to helping someone get that much further in their treatment, whether it be a simple test, a scan, medication, a step forward in research, or even the CURE. We could be saving you, your kids, your future kids, my future kids, your family, my family, our friends and even me. Lets save the future, every little bit counts.
For us, this run, is dedicated to my dad. My dad was the most generous and vivacious person we knew. Those would be the two words that best described him followed by compassionate, funny, loving and loud. He spent his life being happy and making others happy. If him and my mother taught my family anything, it was to give whatever you can regardless of issues, whether it be love, money, food, drinks, care, happiness or even just a little bit of attention. He made people smile with his infectious laugh and you could always be sure to hear him before you saw him. He tried his hand at everything from cooking to diving. He has visited more countries than I can count and has read more encyclopedias than a school of children. Bring up any subject and, like my late cousin Arjun Nair, you wouldn't hear the end of it. They sure knew their information and they weren't afraid of having an opinion.
He always said, if people just read, history wouldn't repeat itself and in terms of cancer, we feel, while maybe you and I may not get very far learning the jibberish that comes with most bits of information on cancer, lets help the men and women that can speak that jibberish aim to, one day, never let our history repeat itself at the hands of this disease.
We would love and greatly appreciate anyone's donation to our run at Race for Life, however small. We don't quite have a target but we do hope we can build a substantial amount to help.
Thank you in advance and we cant wait to get running!
Gift Aid it!
If you're a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you.
