You must ask yourself why Kim Inspire?
KIM Inspire is an award winning charity providing professional, high quality mental health support and recovery in the community. It embraces the group-based model of work with people of different age, background, sexuality, gender identify, race, nationality, language spoken, etc. who are experiencing mental health problems.
The group led activities are innovative, fun, friendly and are always focused on individual development and progression. Volunteers, students, staff and visitors find KIM to be a special organisation as it operates as flexibly and responsively as possible and ensure that everyone involved with KIM is treated equally. The ethos of KIM is to involve its clients and volunteers in all the activities they undertake, and through consultation ensure everyone is appropriately involved in decision making process. Many of clients become volunteers with KIM and have been serving as ambassadors and trustees of KIM Inspire.
What makes KIM Inspire even more unique is its local dimension and dedication to the life of the local communities across North Wales, by offering and encouraging activities involving the wider local community such as a community choir and pop up cafe; offering social integration opportunities for clients and beyond and reducing mental health stigma.
The special project which we would like support though our fundraising is KIM4HIM which is a project created by myself and my friend Andy Matthews as our social work placement. This project has a special place in my and Andy's heart and I would be very grateful if all of you could support men engaging with KIM4HIM project.
KIM4HIM is a ground breaking service design specifically for men which aims to reduce the barriers men experiencing mental health problems seek whilst seeking support. The project offers both 1-1 mentoring and team based group work activities. The idea of the project is that it is created and developed by clients for the clients using local resources available to everyone and planning activities on the budget. The activities offered range from cooking, gardening, drop-in sessions, up cycling furniture, IT and Social Media sessions, photography classes, geocashing, green bowling, playing snooker to going for walks in the local area.
KIM4HIM activities provide the clients with the opportunity to talk about challenges, and discuss issues which men can often find difficult.
