King Eddie's Stairs Challenge 2018 · 11 August 2018

Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade is the declared facility to HM Coastguard in North Tyneside. Our team specialises in Rope, Water & Coastal Search and Rescue. Operating from our Watch House in Tynemouth, we need at least £35,000 each year to maintain our volunteer rescue team & free-to-visit museum.

Story

An 8 hour relay challenge at King Eddie's Bay in Saturday 29th June. The 0.4 mile loop will be ran continuously between 10am and 6pm. Last year's event raised an amazing £3000... Across the 8 hours a total of 2,249 loops were completed covering a total of 898 miles and climbing 292,370 stairs. This gave a total elevation up the stairs of 213,655ft. Will Hogg and Sandy Kerr each completed the most loops of all competitors completing 102 laps and covering around 40 miles across the 8 hours. As a team, the ClassFit gym completed the most loops with many of their members putting in some considerable stints throughout the day to keep the event going.

This year we want to raise more money and have more runners be part of this amazing community event all in aid of the brilliant TVLB.
