Story
Our goal is to complete 1 Million steps around our homes/gardens in two weeks to raise £500 for our local charity, Open Hands.
Open Hands is a charity we proudly support as a church in many ways, most notably through sitting on the Board of Trustees. This charity provides an invaluable support to those in the local area in normal circumstances. At this particularly challenging time the work that they are doing is essential.
In this season they are focusing on meeting emergency food needs through providing emergency food hampers and a takeaway alternative for the regular Tuesday ‘Pie Nights’. Since going on lockdown, they have given out over 450 bags of emergency food and 442 emergency takeaways.
They are currently helping to provide food for between 150-200 individuals each week and have started to receive visits from individuals who have become recently unemployed and individuals on zero-hour contracts who no longer have the means to provide food for themselves.
Funds raised at this time will help to keep the Compassion Centre doors open so Open Hands can continue to receive donations and supply emergency food at this time.
Thank you for your support.
