“These adventures are genuinely dangerous things to do. The website is written in a light-hearted fashion but you cannot underestimate the risks involved in undertaking this kind of adventure.

Individuals who have taken part in past Adventurists' adventures have been permanently disfigured, permanently disabled or even lost their life.

These adventures are not glorified holidays. They are unsupported adventures and so by their very nature extremely risky.

So what are we doing?

For those of you that haven’t heard of the Rickshaw Run adventures, they are challenges set up by The Adventurists, a UK based company who aim to make the world less boring whilst also raising money for charities around the globe.  

In September 2011, six British chaps will take on the roads (more mud tracks to be honest) of India on a gruelling two week challenge armed with a tin can on three wheels and some bare essentials (duck tape). Starting in the far north east, Shillong, Meghalaya, we will navigate a 3,000km route across the breath of India to Jaisalmer, Rajasthan in the west, taking on all that the Indian landscape has to offer.

There is no support, no route, no rules. We really are on our own...’

The facilities are community owned and run, with an emphasis on the project being sustainable well into the future.

FRANK Water Projects has to date allocated funding for 78 clean water plants in India, reaching more than half a million people. We’re funding more projects over the coming months and will be reaching even more villages.
