Story

Beat is a charity which aims to help those suffering with eating disorders like ourselves. The Kinver Unit is a specialist inpatient service treating those with the most serious eating disorders.

Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses that affect around 1.25 million people in the UK. Anorexia nervosa has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness at 10%.

This charity is very close to home to all of us. At some point we have all benefited from their services in many different ways, including helplines and information packs, not just for ourselves but for our families.

We want to raise as much awareness and funds as possible for this amazing cause. On average it takes 27 weeks for treatment to start after the first visit to the GP. For people suffering with these serious illnesses, 27 weeks can mean the difference between life and death. Unfortunately, a lot of patients on this unit had to wait a lot longer. We believe this needs to change.

COVID restrictions means that fundraising is harder than ever, and our options are limited. We would appreciate any donation and help in raising awareness of this amazing charity.
