Story

This is my story and my fight with eye problems.

I have been a high myopic patient from young age. My problems with eyes started to unravel in 1996. No one could understand what was happening. 20 years ago my spiritual master in India told me that this phase is just starting and I have to go through many surgeries for my eyes and to just have faith in him.

Fast forward 7 years and I am now living in France. And on one fine day my eyes popped off like a fusebulb. I could not see. My vision came back after a minute or so but that was serious. I rushed to hospital to be diagnosed with a rare condition "Juvenile glaucoma (JOAG)".  I was on medication and was told that hopefully the condition could be manageable without surgeries.

Fast forward a year I was already living in the UK and my condition became severe. With well wishers around and supporting me I was referred to the Moorfields eye hospital in Central London which is a world reknowned leader. The condition was so severe that upon my referral I got the phone call within 10 minutes from hospital and I was told to come straight away. I was told upon inspection that they have to do emergency surgery from going blind.

It came as a shock to me and I got in touch with my consultant who was No 1 in his field in France. He told me I was in the safest pair of hands at Moorfields and there is no need for me to be in touch with him any longer. It gave me the confidence and within 24 hours I was getting operated. It was successful and I was still able to see. Of course the damages that caused with fusebulb popping would never be restored but the condition now managed.

Over the years I had fantastic support and wonderful care. I had 7 surgeries at Moorfields. Without their timely help and care I would have gone blind long time ago.

Last week the research team at Moorfields and in partnership with UCL found cure for AMD (age related macular degeneration)

On a different note my physical condition deteriorated due to an unrelated incident. So for me to run this year Brighton marathon is a huge personal barrier. So far I have run 4 official half marathons including 2 already this year. My goal is 6 half and 2 full marathons this year.

I would not even be here if not for all those surgeries.

Please kindly support my madness to help others in their fight against eye diseases

Every donation received is important and makes a real difference to the charity's work. So please kindly dig deep and donate to a worthwhile cause. All donations will be greatly appreciated.

With all my gratitude for your support - "Never give up".
