We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

On 28th January 2022, one of my best friends Sinead, received some world-shattering news. At 30 years old she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia which is a type of cancer of the blood and bone barrow. She went from living her best life in Ibiza with her now hubbie Rob, to jumping straight on the plane back to the UK for intensive chemotherapy.

Sinead has been fighting hard and her positivity and mental attitude throughout this journey so far is nothing short of inspirational. Whilst trying to focus on her own recovery and processing this life-changing diagnosis, she has been dedicated to helping others going through a similar experience.

So far, Sinead has already raised thousands of dollars for Blood Cancer UK and the Adelaide Ward at Royal Berks Hospital where she has been receiving treatment. These donations will go towards valuable research to help beat blood cancer and pay for new facilities on the ward to help deliver even better care for patients and their loved ones, as well as the amazing staff who have been looking after her!

Sinead has also raised significant awareness around the need for stem cell donations to help people suffering with leukaemia receive life-saving bone marrow or blood transplants. Her support for the Anthony Nolan charity (who she previously ran the London marathon for!) has encouraged hundreds of people to sign up to the stem cell register. This girl is a hero.

So now it's time to do my bit and to support Sinead and her fundraising efforts, I will be running the Sydney Half Marathon on 15th May. I've never ran one before so this will be a huge challenge for me, which is why I'm asking my dear friends and family to sponsor me. Every little helps, so anything you can contribute to this important cause will be greatly appreciated!
