VSO ICS** · 31 January 2020 to 31 December 2020 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am now graduating from Newcastle University and have been accepted to go away with VSO ICS (Voluntary Services Overseas, International Citizen Service) in September.
This is a government run programme, for 18-25 year olds, funded by the UK government's Department for International Development (DFID). It allows young people to go away and help combat poverty in developing countries through a number of different programmes in different communities.
My main jobs whilst away will include...
-- Creating awareness on the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), early and unprepared pregnancies among school going youths, mostly girls.
-- Helping to educate and prevent HIV/AIDS among the youths, in school and out of school.
-- Promoting healthy relationships among the youths.
-- Helping young people to acquire skills of healthy decision making.
However, in order for me to go away I need to raise at least £800. This money is not towards my flights/vaccinations etc., but towards the programme so they can afford to keep it going and send other volunteers away in the future. It is also a great opportunity for me to spread the word about the ICS programme and what I will be doing!
Any donation big or small would be much appreciated and I can assure you it will be in trusted hands with VSO, the world's leading independent international development organisation.
