The Kirkby 100 · 8 February 2013

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On Friday 22nd March 2013, we will undertake the Kirkby College 100!

This event will involve: my own challenge  - to run 100 miles in 3 days, supported on the 45 miles of Day 1 by a team of 6 staff from the school.

At the same time, at least 100 students from the school will be undertaking a day of 'fun' sporting activities that will include them attempting to 'beat' this 100 mile distance, by completing a 'treadmill relay' at the local leisure centre (MANY THANKS TO THE STAFF AT THE FESTIVAL HALL - KIRKBY-IN-ASHFIELD FOR THEIR SUPORT).

All year groups in the school will aim to raise at least £100 for our chosen charities - The Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund and The Rainbows Hospice, in order to help us reach our £2000 target.

This event is aimed at raising money for these fantastic charities whilst, encouraging the young people at our school to adopt and maintain an active lifestyle.  As part of this challenge and to 'get the ball rolling', a team of Year 11 students will be challenging me to a Marathon Race (who can cover the distance fastest - their team or me?) in the entrance area of the Festival Hall lesiure centre on the morning Friday 8th March .  Please come along if you are in the area and support the cause!  I will need all the suport I can get - there's 20 of them and only 1 of me - and they're younger ... and fitter ... and faster ... and maybe more motivated!!  (Maybe this was a bad idea??!!)
