In 2018 Mark and I almost lost our youngest daughter Neeva, she was 15 months old. She was diagnosed in Poole A&E on the 22nd of November with a tension pneumothorax, a punctured right lung. Brought on they believe by a severe chest infection. After being operated on in Poole she was moved by one of the PICU ambulanceS to Southampton General and admitted to PICU (paediatric intensive care unit). She stayed there for the next three days, we were then moved on to the general ward, discharged four days later. We then had quite a lengthy and stressful recovery period, which concluded in a CT scan and the incredible final conclusion that she had made a full recovery and should have as much chance as any other child of a getting a punctured lung……very small chance! As you can imagine we were beyond relived and grateful for the conclusion to the whole experience.

I remember vividly walking up the (hundreds) of steps back to PICU on time making a promise to myself that I would some how run a half marathon and try abs raise some money to put back into the system as a way of thanks to all the incredible staff/organisations which played such key roles in helping Neeva.

For some a half marathon is a walk the park. Me however…..am not a natural runner, never have been…..it has taken me about 2 and a half years to get to a point where I felt ready to commit to an event. So here it is!!! Start of Oct 2021 I am planning on running the Bournemouth Half (if the event is cancelled I will do a virtual one). I could not have got here with out the unconditional support from Mark, he is my absolute rock!!

So if you can possibly find it in your heart to donate even something small we would be eternally grateful!!!
