Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I met Sister Mary Paulé Tacke in 1993 when I was a volunteer in what was then the homeland Transkei (now the Eastern Cape) in South Africa. Sister Mary Paulé was then the principal at the Ikwesi Lokusa school in Umtata and it was through my visits there that I learned about her work and dedication to her children.

In 2000 I  visited Umtata again and she introduced me to the orphans of the Bethany Children's Home, one of her new projects. I made a promise to help by raising funds when I got back home, a promise one which I am sad to say I didn't keep as well as I could have.  After Sister Mary's untimely death in 2014 I vowed to myself that I would dedicate my time again to the children of Umtata who touched my heart. Sister Mary's Children is a charity dedicated to funding the children's homes that she devoted her life to.

On 29th October I will run the Lucerne Marathon in Switzerland and I am raising donations for Sister Mary's Children in honor of Sister Mary Paulé Tacke, the Mother Theresa of South Africa.
