Soldier 30:30 · 17 February 2018 ·

Since 1885, thanks to the public's support, we continue to provide welfare and wellbeing assistance tailored to our Armed Forces community. We know and understand the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and in times of need, we help to enable the Forces family to thrive.

Story

A team of 4 of us based at DST Leconfield have decided to
test ourselves, both physically and mentally, and have decided to sign up for the Midlands 30:30. This is an event organised to raise funds for The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA). SSAFA is a brilliant organisation that provides lifelong support for serving men and women, both Regulars and Reserve, and also to Veterans that have previously served in the British Armed Forces. They offer support in a variety of areas including, housing for wounded and sick personnel, support groups for bereaved families, adoption for Military families, disability support and support for homeless veterans.

The challenge itself, Midlands 30:30, will see the 4 of us carrying 30Ibs of equipment each (not including water) over a distance of 30miles, around the beautiful countryside surrounding Denstone College near
Uttoxeter. The event will begin in the early hours of Saturday 17th February, and will be aimed to be completed within a 12 hour period.

This is a brilliant opportunity to support and raise funds for great a charity! All donations are greatly appreciated.
