 On the 16th of december 2013 I had to do one of the hardest most heartbreaking things that no parent should ever have to do, I had to turn my 3 year old daughters life support machine off! Brooke had Leukaemia and only had it three weeks before she sadly passed away, for three weeks prior to being diagnosed I kept taking her back and forth to the doctors only to be told it was a common cold until one doctor decided to send her for tests which showed brooke had Leukaemia. Brooke was admitted to leeds hospital where she underwent treatment, before being admitted brooke already had 2 viral infections and one was the common cold but because of the chemotherapy her immune system was too weak so she couldn't fight it off, so on the 7th of december they had to do a lung flush on brooke to clear the mucus off her lungs, they kept her under sedation while her lungs cleared and to give her a rest, then on the 9th brooke had more problems so they did further tests and found a blood clot in her liver, a yeast infection in her spleen and her kidneys started failing, they discovered an infection on brookes heart valve on the 11th, on the 16th early morning one of her pupils became non responsive so more tests were carried out that's when they discovered the infection on her heart had spread, the infection was spreading round her body so fast and clotting her veins including in her brain that within hours both her pupils were none responsive and her stats were all showing signs that her battle was over and I had to make the heartbreaking decision that my poor little princess had gone through enough pain and suffering and it was time to say goodbye! A week later on the 23rd of december (2 days before christmas) all of my family and friends of the family gathered round a tiny pink coffin and said their goodbyes to my beautiful princess! I want to raise awareness of the danger and rapid progression of Leukaemia and try and raise as much money as possible for the charity candlelighters who helped us with the cost of travel to leeds and back to hull and for other important things brooke needed!
