Group B Strep is the leading cause of severe infection in newborn babies including sepsis, meningitis and pneumonia. Charity Group B Strep Support provides support for families, improves awareness, educates health professionals and campaigns for better prevention. Thanks for fundraising for GBSS.

Story

As many of you know we nearly lost our son Elliott to Early on set Group B Strep at birth and were unlucky enough to also suffer Late on set Group B Strep at 3 weeks old. We were totally unaware of this preventable infection until it happened to us. Thankfully we were the lucky ones and Elliott is now a happy healthy 3 and a half year old.

I am hoping to raise money and awareness so that no other family has to go through what we did.

Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months. On average in the UK, at least-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection -one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.
