Alzheimer Scotland is the leading, national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice, information and support and we are here for people living with dementia, their families and carers across Scotland.

Story

Alzheimers Scotland is a fantastic charity which help people with dementia, their carers and families providing support and assistance where possible.

Demenia is a progressive loss of powers of the brain. There are many kinds of dementia but the most common one is the Alzheimer's disease. In Scotland between 58,000-65,000 people have dementia. Medical researchers are doing their best to develop treatments as there is no cure. My grandad, David Haxby, has dementia and was looked after by my nan until she sadly passed away last year. However, since her passing my grandad has been able to stay in his own home and maintain his independence because he receives support and the right medication. The value of this support is unquantifiable and that is why I want to try and help a little and give something back in the hope that one day they will find a cure.

Other members of my family and close friends have also been affected by dementia - I want them to know that I am running for them too.
