Story
In October 2022 I will be running Yorkshire Marathon and raising money for East Anglia Children's Hospice (EACH) and in memory of Evelyn Ivy Ohlsson x
In April 2021, at just a few months old, Evelyn was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1. This is a rare, progressive genetic condition affecting the motor neurons and muscles. Type 1 is the most severe form and heartbreakingly, there is no cure.
Evelyn was a little fighter but earlier this year, Evelyn's parents and our beautiful friends, Laura and Craig, had to make the difficult decision to move Evelyn to East Anglia's Children's Hospice for end-of-life care.
EACH support families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. The nurses at EACH work 24/7 to care for the children and families that need their support. Maximising life and treating
symptoms, so the child and family can enjoy their time together is the most crucial and special part of their work.
The members of staff at EACH worked tirelessly to make sure Evelyn and the whole family were taken care of at the most difficult time. Thanks to this very special place, Craig, Laura and big sister, Lexie have memories that they will treasure for a lifetime.
Any money raised with help EACH reach their £64,000 target which could pay for 2 full time super star nurses and ensure they can continue to carry out the fantastic work that they do.
On 5th April 2022 Evelyn sadly passed away. Her strength and the inspiration of the amazing people at EACH will push me to cross that finish line at 26.2 miles! It will be honor to raise some money for this amazing charity and in memory of such a special little girl.
