Search for new therapies to treat low grade serous ovarian cancer

Essar Chester Half Marathon 2021 · 19 September 2021 ·
I was diagnosed with low grade serous ovarian cancer in 2019 and unfortunately had a recurrence at the end of 2020.
I have spent over 14 hours in surgery on 2 occasions in the past few years.
My last operation in December 2020 resulted in a 2 week hospital stay and 3 days in intensive care. My goal for 2021 was to run a half marathon and I’m going to do it!
Every time I struggle with the long distance runs. I think back to not even being able to get out of bed 8 months ago and it keeps me going. I’m still quite new to running but if I can run then I am healthy 😀
I am fundraising for a research facility at the University of Edinburgh!
Low grade serous ovarian cancer is a rare and under-researched disease. It affects young women and is resistant to standard treatment. At the Nicola Murray Centre, based at the University of Edinburgh, we are screening panels of new drugs in the laboratory in order to identify those most likely to be beneficial in the clinic.
