100km for a Thousand Possibilities: Supporting Dyslexia Awareness Along the Thames Path

👋 Hello and welcome to my fundraising page!

I'm lacing up my running shoes, filling up my water bottle, and setting my sights on a whopping 100 kilometres along the beautiful Thames Path. Yes, you heard right – a 100km ultra marathon!

Why, you might ask, am I embarking on this challenging journey? Well, the answer is simple and very close to my heart: my son Felix, a bright, energetic, and incredibly resilient young man who happens to have Dyslexia.

Dyslexia is something many of us are familiar with, yet its impact is often underestimated. It’s not simply about struggling to read or write; it's about the daily challenges that can diminish a person's self-confidence and belief in their own potential. It can make normal schoolwork seem like climbing Mount Everest, and for Felix, and many others like him, it's a mountain they climb each and every day.

And yet, my son’s spirit has never been dampened. He faces his difficulties with a courage that takes my breath away and an optimism that is truly infectious. That’s the kind of spirit I want to honour with this run, and to show him that no obstacle is insurmountable.

We've faced challenges in finding Felix the support he needs. Dyslexia is complex and the necessary resources are not always readily available. It's a struggle many families endure, which is why raising awareness about Dyslexia and its impacts is so crucial. That's where the British Dyslexia Association comes in – they provide invaluable support, resources and a strong voice advocating for individuals like Felix.

So, in tribute to my son’s daily courage, I'm attempting to conquer this 100km challenge to raise funds for the British Dyslexia Association. With every step along the Thames Path, from the smallest stride to the biggest leap, I’ll be reminded of the small and large steps Felix takes every day.

This is a journey of a thousand possibilities – not just for Felix, but for all the children and adults grappling with Dyslexia. We're aiming to help them realise that their potential is not defined by their condition, and to ensure they have access to the resources and understanding they need to thrive.

Your donations will go a long way in providing support, improving educational resources, and funding research to better understand and address Dyslexia. More than that, it's a show of solidarity, a signal to every child and adult living with Dyslexia that they are not alone, and they are seen, understood, and valued.

This run is not just about distance or the finish line; it's about the strength and courage to face challenges head-on. It's about running toward a future where every child can learn and grow without barriers.

I'm ready to lace up, dig deep and push past those 100 kilometres. Will you support me in this challenge? Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. Let's run this race together for Felix, for the British Dyslexia Association, and for everyone impacted by Dyslexia.

Thank you for your support, and here’s to every step towards understanding and empowering those with Dyslexia!

Together, we can make a difference. Let's make this run count!
