I am taking up the challenge to live on £20 for a week out of solidarity for my friends and neighbours in Reading. Please sponsor me!
The government brought in a £20 uplift to Universal Credit in April 2020 to tackle rising poverty in the UK (1 in 4 people in 2019). Without this many people in Reading will live on £20 a week or less after bills and council tax, and over 75% of people on Universal Credit or Working Tax Credits will have a negative budget and fall further and further into debt. Citizens Advice is campaigning to keep the uplift, which is a lifeline to so many.
The funds you donate will go to Citizens Advice Reading, an independent charity who have been supporting the people of Reading for over 80 years.
Thank you for your support!
